Philipp studied mathematics at the University of Würzburg.

His studies were focused on stochastics, especially sampling theory under prior information, which was the topic of his bachelor thesis, Carleson measures, which Philipp investigated in the working group “Measure Theory”, and multivariate statistics, especially online PCA algorithms, which Philipp focused on in his master thesis.

Philipp joined our lab as PhD student in May 2021. In his work, Philipp is collaborating on the iPC project (individualized Paediatric cure). The objective is to use medical and molecular data on pediatric cancers with machine learning-based predictions of treatment success and drug efficacy.

Philipp's focus is on probabilistic graphical / Bayesian models and their use in causal inference. Furthermore, Philipp is working on the development of methods for inference in larger, relational networks containing cell type information, patient and drug data.
