Abir joined the Self-Organizing Systems Lab as a PhD student in January 2026. She received her Master’s and State Engineering degrees in Automation and Control Engineering from École Nationale Polytechnique in July 2025.

Her research lies at the intersection of synthetic biology and probabilistic machine learning, with a focus on modeling genetic circuits and developing generative AI approaches for protein sequence design. She is particularly interested in applying deep learning methods, including sequence and diffusion models, to design novel biomolecules for synthetic biology applications.

During her Master’s thesis, she worked on robust control of nonlinear systems with applications to blood glucose regulation, which sparked her interest in combining control theory, machine learning, and biological systems.

Her current work focuses on AI-driven molecular design and programmable biological systems, aiming toward future biomedical and biotechnological applications.
