Kilian Heck received his B.A. degree in Sociology in 2014 and M.Sc. degree in Survey Statistics in 2017 from Otto-Friedrich University Bamberg.
His master thesis was entitled “Spatiotemporal modeling of neural activity in primary visual cortex”. He joined the Bioinspired Communication Systems Lab in April 2018.
He is part of the Rhine-Main Universities alliance as scientific coordinator in the project “Robust and fast data processing for real-time interrogation of neuronal circuits”.
His research interest includes statistical analysis of neurophysiological data acquired from voltage-sensitive dye imaging and electrophysiology. This comprises the development of algorithms for image segmentation and sequence detection within related neural time series. Currently, he is working on methods for automatized identification of latent brain states via autoregressive hidden Markov models.
