Kai Cui joined the Bioinspired Communication Systems Lab as a PhD student in December 2019 and is part of the emergenCITY project funded by Hesse's research promotion programme LOEWE, sub-project KOM2. He is interested in applying machine learning methods to optimize network configurations.
Prior to that, he received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science from Technische Universität Darmstadt in 2018 and 2019, and in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology with focus on automation systems in 2017 and 2019 respectively. His master thesis was on TD-regularized Actor-Critic methods for reinforcement learning in continuous control environments.
His research topics include single-agent and multi-agent reinforcement learning, game theory, and swarm robotics. In particular, he is interested in scalable solutions for sub-problems of multi-agent reinforcement learning. Possible applications include learning robotic swarm behaviour, e.g. swarm indoor exploration.
