Wasiur Rahman Khuda Bukhsh received his M.Stat. (with specialisation in Biostatistics and Data Analysis) from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata (India) in 2011. Before joining the Indian Statistical Institute, renowned as ISI in the academic world, he obtained his B.Sc. (with Honours in Statistics) from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India in 2009. From June 2011 to December 2013, he worked as a Manager in the Advanced Analytics team at the Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) of the ICICI Bank , India’s largest private sector bank with global presence. During his stint there, he worked extensively on Risk, Insurance and Advanced Analytics domains. He has been working as an Assistant Scientist at the Bioinspired Communication Systems Lab since January 2014.

Wasiur is interested in applications of probability theory and statistics in various domains of computer science. His research interests broadly cover inferential aspects of multi-agent systems, swarms, stochastic games, Bayesian networks et cetera. He is specifically interested in what can be termed as the "inverse problem” – can we infer about the hidden policies of, for example, swarming particles just by looking at their trajectories? Is it always possible to design local rules that guarantee a target global behaviour? If not, what are the fundamental requirements that need to be fulfilled? He is also interested in asymptotic behaviour of a multi-agent systems when the number of interacting agents become too large.
